Tue, Mar. 24th, 2009, 06:49 pm Spending
I have come to the realization--with help of course--that the best thing to do with wealth is to spend it. There is no sense in accumulating it for some rainy day, or for any given purpose. Spending all of the wealth helps to strengthen the economy and, in the end, brings more wealth to everyone. Just think, if the founder of a famous software company spent all of his wealth (ok, presuming he could liquidate his assets for what he's 'worth') we could each get $111 when that money redistributed! Surely if we all did this we would be much happier.

I do not know that I will be doing any creative writing, though I might. I spoke recently on the topic, and it has always been appealing to me, but lately I have had a hard time getting myself motivated to do much of anything. Depression is good for that, I suppose. I imagine I will be posting more, as I doubt my situation will change any time soon. Eh, I have been through it all before and lived this long.

Another year and a time to post another update. Typical budget issues, though Jason is living with his uncle now, so that may help.
Allegedly I'm slotted for management on the current account, but I'm not holding my breath... in fact I'm looking into other jobs/accounts. May even end up back in Chicago. Fri, May. 6th, 2005, 05:56 pm KKK
Some of you will appreciate why this is so funny to me. I'm not sure the responsible party will. There was once a character in a game that went by "KKK." Today, of course, I get hit on the head with where Konstantine K likely got its inspiration and find it humorous that someone in his line of work should have used the ref without me catching it. Even more amusing will be if it is an accident. Cheers: (the below courtesy of 'fortune' from FreeBSD 5.2) Try "whereis netscape" and "whereis whereis". -- Konstantinos Konstantinidis <kkonstan@duth.gr> -D

Today, work. Tomorrow, dolphins. What have I been doing? Work, mostly. I got around to bringing up the web page for FoxMUD (www.foxmud.com) though it looks like the code will be a bit more work than I anticipated (either that or I just will need to point it to the right place for the libs, but I've the nagging feeling there will be more to it than that since I think my last snapshot is pre-wolfpaw). What else... oh, the system I'm on is new since my last post... how many months ago. Not blazingly fast, but with the ram and the AMD processor it does very well. The video is very nice and the MB (NVidia nForce4-SLI) will support the top of the line AMD to date, should I ever have the cash to blow. No clue what I'm going to do with 10 USB ports, tho... I will try and get more picutres up on the web, at which point I'll post a link. Hope all my 'fans' are doing well.
Tue, Jan. 4th, 2005, 09:55 am Mass Update
What's been going on: usual stress in the personal life a three day drive to Chicagoland on account of following the bad weather a decent Christmas :) a quiet New Year :) the loss of $2.5K in computer hardware the loss of Koda (www.catnation.com, center/white cat) but life is going ok, all things considered. Its not all bad news, though those do tend to be what sticks out in the mind. I hope all my readers are doing ok. I haven't read this yet, but I recommend it based on a co-worker and the excerpt: http://www.maxbarry.com/jennifergovernment/preview.html
Fri, Dec. 10th, 2004, 07:29 pm Another Day
The children are settled as is Jen... at least I think the children are. Bit hectic trying to deal with them and work all day: she went out (I'm not supposed to call them dates, but it sure seems like it) with Thomas to some ice-sculpture display thing. Ah, well. Not much in a mood to do anything after the work of the day, not even really to get xp for my d2 char. Brighter news: a friend of mine (from up North) is beginning the latest revision to his novel. (Um... r6?) I'm hoping that he will, once he gets it done--again--finally be able to publish. This NDA stuff is driving me crazy. It was good to catch BleuKat on line yesterday, tho I think I contributed to us both missing 'the old crew.' Well, I'll see how things go on Sunday: allegedly we're spending the day at the parks for as long as we want to, child free. I'm sure it would be a lot more fun if I had some spare money, but still, there may yet be hope.
Fri, Dec. 10th, 2004, 12:44 am A week...
Well One possible break up, two large arguments, work from hell, OOC BS on game sites... I'm sure it can get worse. We've got some sort of public servant/councilor visiting in eight hours to try and help us with child behavior issues. Personally, I suspect it is a parental behavior issue. If we can't set a schedule and apply discipline and monitor the children, they aren't going to learn discipline. Wow, big surprise there. Ah, well. No doubt people would rather hear happy thoughts... so ehar goes: we finished shopping for my in-laws side of the family, and my grandmother should be relocated from rehab now... although as of yesterday no one had a way to contact her. Still, I'm going to make a concerted effort at it tomorrow, and maybe try to not do much if any work.
Excitement... I get to meet with the customers (on the phone of course) tomorrow to make sure the last of the changes we need to do are cool with them. I'm hoping that we'll get everything done on schedule, and that once its done I don't get dragged into the actual audit. They really don't want me to answer the questions honestly anyway. The whole thing is a bit of a crock. Waiting for the Robinhood DVDs... it should be here today (didn't make it) or the next two days, from what they're saying. It'll be good to see them again. The last copies I watched of much of it weren't the best quality. Sadly with all of the work I've been doing I haven't been able to dedicate much of any time to my hobbies, specifically MU* stuff: coding, staffing, or playing (not that I play much). Ah, well, back to the grind.
Fri, Oct. 22nd, 2004, 09:31 pm Waiting
I'm waiting, at 9:30, for our oldest son to fall asleep so I can safely play IWD II (OK, so a bit out of date, but fun) with my wife, and figured I'd finally get around to posting here. Needless to say, I'm new to this. As many of my friends will vouch, I tend to be pretty tight lipped... or maybe that's just the way I see myself. So this is me branching out. I'm going to start small, 'cause its easier that way, right? OWBN: I need to give someone a callback... I gather there are game questions for me. Will wonders never cease? I don't know if there's a copy of my sheet that I don't have... I know I can't be responsible for any NPCs any more... I'm so disgusted with some of the reversals I've seen in the past two years that I don't really want to have anything to do with the org... and I'm thankful for the time I have now by not having 50K email to read/hour :P I will call her back, tho. Friends deserve that :) Work: Ah, gotta get my expenses done so I can afford to use the work card to travel to NY middle of next month again. -sigh- another DR test. Looks like I will be doing three groups worth of work on this unless we get our hosts to handle IDS, then its only two. Still, keeps some of my skills current. I can't wait until Sarbanes-Oxly audit (or pre-audit) work is done and I can do 'real' work again. Life: Well, hopefully better since we talked about my issues today. Ah, can't wait: having watched all of Blakes-7 (first season) I am eagerly awaiting the second season (but not eagerly enough to get the old Beta copies out of the garage...) so I can watch them all again :P In the mean time I should be getting Robin of Sherwood (complete) in the next ten days... that's something I haven't seen all the way through in... um, well, probably 16 years or so (when it came out). Thankfully storm season looks to be over... 'bout time to take the boards off the windows I suppose (not like anyone would be surprised at my not having done this yet, right? Even if we hadn't been through four of the big storms this year). Still waiting for J&C to get an estimate on their repairs costs...
